Operative orthopaedics

If conservative treatment of your complaints is not possible or if this does not lead to a lasting satisfactory result, I will be happy to inform you about surgical treatment alternatives and will also carry these out myself if indicated.

During my surgical training in Zurich, Cologne, Bonn and Straubing, I specialized in minimally invasive joint surgery (arthroscopy) on the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints. In addition to ankle surgery, I also perform foot surgery in the forefoot and hindfoot area.

The surgical procedures are performed at the Beta Klinik in Bonn. Depending on the extent of the procedure, it is performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis. From state-of-the-art diagnostics and specialized surgical teams to post-operative physiotherapy, everything is under one roof.

Close interdisciplinary cooperation ensures that you receive the best possible care and treatment. In order to keep up to date with the latest developments, I regularly attend congresses and training courses organized by the relevant specialist associations and related fields.

Shoulder

In the field of minimally invasive and conservative shoulder surgery, I mainly treat the following conditions:

  • Impingement syndrome (bottleneck syndrome)
  • Lime scale
  • Injuries and wear of the acromioclavicular joint
  • Tears of the rotator cuff
  • Ventral instability of the shoulder
  • Osteoarthritis

Most shoulder procedures require physiotherapeutic treatment following the operation. I will provide you with a clearly structured post-treatment plan and, on request, individual sports advice to ensure the results of your treatment.

It is important that your pain is eliminated or significantly reduced after the treatment and that you have the best possible function in everyday life and sport again.

Elbow

Diseases of the elbow require a comprehensive and competent clinical and radiological examination.

As with all other joints, the success of treatment depends first and foremost on an accurate diagnosis of the underlying condition before appropriate conservative or surgical treatment is initiated. Nowadays, many procedures on the elbow joint can be performed arthroscopically or minimally invasively.

Operative Orthopädie - Ellbogen

In the field of minimally invasive and conservative elbow surgery, I mainly treat the following conditions:

  • “Tennis elbow” (irritation of the extensor tendon insertions on the elbow): Arthroscopic or minimally invasive therapy
  • Instability of the ligamentous apparatus: Minimally invasive reconstruction of the ligamentous apparatus
  • Cartilage damage: treatment is carried out arthroscopically by debridement and drilling
  • Restricted movement of the elbow: arthroscopic improvement of joint mobility in osteoarthritis by removing osteophytes and loosening the joint capsule
  • Plica syndrome with impingement: arthroscopic removal of an incarcerating mucosal fold

Most elbow joint procedures require physiotherapy and further orthopaedic care. Some of the procedures can also be performed on an outpatient basis.

The important thing is that after the treatment, your pain has been eliminated or significantly reduced and you have the best possible function in everyday life and sport again.

Knee

In the field of minimally invasive and conservative knee surgery, I mainly treat the following conditions:

  • Meniscus tears (resection and suturing)
  • Cartilage damage (microfracturing / AutoCart)
  • ACL reconstruction and suturing of the anterior cruciate ligament
  • Instabilities of the kneecap

Many knee joint procedures require physiotherapeutic treatment following the operation. I will provide you with a clearly structured post-treatment plan and, on request, individual sports advice to ensure the results of your treatment.

It is important that your pain is eliminated or significantly reduced after the treatment and that you have the best possible function in everyday life and sport again.

Ankle joint

In the field of minimally invasive and conservative ankle surgery, I mainly treat the following conditions:

  • Impingement syndrome
  • Cartilage damage and free joint bodies
  • Instability of the outer and inner ligaments
  • Injuries to the syndesmosis
  • Scarring and inflammation of the mucous membrane

Many ankle procedures require physiotherapeutic treatment following the operation. I will provide you with a clearly structured post-treatment plan and, on request, individual sports advice to ensure the results of your treatment.

It is important that your pain is eliminated or significantly reduced after the treatment and that you have the best possible function in everyday life and sport again.

Foot surgery

The foot is subject to very high physical stresses in everyday life and during sport. Any surgical intervention must therefore offer a clear chance of improvement if it is carried out.

  • Chron. Pain and scarring of the Achilles tendon
  • Achilles tendon ruptures
  • Bony exostoses (Haglund exostosis)
  • Injuries to the syndesmosis (tight rope procedure)
  • Toe deformities (hallux valgus, hallux rigidus, claw/hammer toes)

In addition, postoperative adaptation of footwear is often necessary and helpful, particularly in the case of forefoot surgery. We also provide expert advice in this area and, of course, in movement therapy, and ensure that you regain the best possible function in everyday life and sport.
