The advantages of digital orthopaedics
Digital orthopaedics comprises various digital elements. These include apps, virtual reality glasses, wearables and, of course, the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Used individually or in combination, they serve to modernize and improve orthopaedic care. The aim is to improve patient outcomes, increase the efficiency of care and improve patient satisfaction.
An analysis of patient data using artificial intelligence supports personalized treatment planning and the use of apps and virtual reality for rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery.

Applications can be used to monitor exercises and rehabilitation programs to ensure that patients are performing their therapy correctly.
They also allow progress to be tracked and treatment plans to be adjusted. In addition, mobile apps and wearables can facilitate the recording of pain symptoms, mobility and other relevant health data.
This information helps doctors to make better diagnoses and develop personalized treatment approaches.
Specialist for digital orthopaedics
In 2016, I developed the orthopaedic training concept for Vivira. DiGA Vivira is the first digital application to be finally included in the DiGA directory by the BfArM for the treatment of back pain caused by non-specific low back pain or osteoarthritis of the spine.
It is one of the most frequently prescribed medical apps. Patients with statutory and private health insurance are usually reimbursed by their health insurance provider on prescription. I evaluate the results of the ViVira app scientifically and give presentations at medical congresses and training events.
In the field of virtual reality, I advise the company SyncVR Medical from the Netherlands. I tested VR applications for them with regard to their applicability in the prevention and treatment of orthopaedic conditions.
Together with the company SKILLCOURT, I implemented my Return to Sport screening concept for the training court. My patients have the opportunity to be screened and trained on site in Bonn in a SkillCourt.
