In December 2019, the “app on prescription” was introduced to healthcare for patients. Around 74 million people insured under the statutory health insurance scheme (GKV) are now entitled to treatment with digital health applications. These can be prescribed by doctors and psychotherapists or approved by the health insurance company and are therefore on an equal footing with medicines, remedies and aids.
